Dance Residency - $4,500 (in kind)
This in-kind grant from Morris Arts funded a dance residency for Alexander Hamilton students, bringing history, geography, social studies, music, dance and traditional attire to the students. Students experienced traditional world dances in an up-close, personal setting. In the Performing Heritage Assembly, students learned steps of traditional folk dances, where traditional costumes were on display, and selected students were able to try some on. Depending on the countries presented for the assembly, students might also have an opportunity to try traditional instruments. Additionally, students experienced learning vocabulary and counting in foreign languages. The assembly culminated with a celebration of America, exploring rock & roll music and the dances it inspired. Everyone participated in this group dance influenced by sports movements and everyday activities.
