Mosaic Mural at FMS - $7,500 (in kind)
This year’s FMS 8th grade class worked with Morris Arts Tile Artist, Laura Lyn Stern, on the class of 2024 Mosaic Legacy Project. In multiple sessions, students learned about the mosaic process and the planned design, while understanding what goes into creating a mosaic panel, how to make clay parts, techniques to use color and underglazes, pattern making and how to set the ceramic tile. The inspiring piece beautifully captures the spirit of each “house” with student tiles representing their individuality to reflect the school’s vibrant and diverse community.
FMS Assistant Principal, Christina Roman, applied for this grant made possible by Morris Arts to bring this fantastic vision to life! Grants like these create new models for learning, enrich the curriculum, promote self-esteem, and enhance and expand enrichment opportunities.
