Description:
Eric Manahan, was an excellent student and a legendary baseball player. A member of the 1985 state champion Morristown Babe Ruth team and an All-State baseball player at Morristown High School (MHS), winning the 1990 Morris County championship, Eric continued his career as a student-athlete, playing Division 1 baseball for the Fairfield University Stags and winning the MAC conference championship in his senior season. Eric was also an outstanding football player, leading the Morristown High School defense as they unexpectedly knocked off the number-one high school team in the nation.
The Morris Educational Foundation Eric Manahan Scholarship is awarded to an MHS senior planning to attend a 4-year college or university. The scholarship will reward a student with combined high academic achievement and a long-standing commitment to the sports of baseball or football, with preference given to baseball. It is a one-time $2,000 award.
Criteria:
The Morris Educational Foundation Eric Manahan Scholarship will reward a student with combined high academic achievement and a long-standing commitment to the sports of baseball or football, with preference given to baseball. To be considered for this scholarship, the Morristown High School senior must:
o Submit a complete MEF Common Scholarship Application online
o Have a GPA of 4.0 or higher.
o Have a varsity letter in baseball or football (or a varsity letter is expected senior year)
o Acceptance from an accredited 4-year college or university with plans to attend
Preference will be given to applicants with financial need.
Application Requirements:

❏ Complete a supplemental essay (300 words or less) on the following:
Describe your passion for your sport (baseball or football) and what motivated you to excel academically and athletically throughout your time at Morristown High School. Share any challenges, goals, or people who influenced your dedication and effort.
❏ Complete the Financial Information Application Supplement
❏ Provide two letters of recommendation – one from their MHS guidance counselor and one from a baseball coach (or football coach if the applicant plays football).
